Why I Joined The Consistency Challenge
.
“The essence of being human
-George orwell
is that one does not seek perfection.”
Technically, I’ve been a blogger since 2015, but the level of consistently to publish blog content has been dismal at most. Although I have good intentions and the vison of the type of blogger I want to be, I just haven’t been able to pull it together.
So enter Mattie James. While scrolling on Instagram a couple of months back, I came across a story of a young millennial who is an influencer. I heard of the term influencer but did not know the specifics of what is meant to be an influencer. After scrolling through her feed, I decided to follow her profile. Since following her, I’ve learned lots of great “gems” of info that I want to apply to my blog. However, once again I let excuses get to me.
Then one day I feel like Mattie held a mirror to my face and said, “Girl, what are you waiting for? I’m hip to your game.” She created a consistency challenge. This challenge is to promote more consistent blogging. So for the challenge I need to publish a blog post once a day (Monday through Friday) from July 6th through July 31st.
So if I call myself a blogger, this should be easy, right? Wrong! This is hard. Prior to the challenge starting, I was in the middle of re-doing my blog layout. I had spent months off and on obsessing over the perfect look without making a decision. I was being stubborn to do it myself instead of getting help.
With this challenge, I knew it would force me to be uncomfortable. However, sometimes the pain is worth it. When it came down to it, here is why I decided to join the challenge.
I Want To Do Better
I really want to be a blogger. I want to make my mark on the wellness industry, and I want to use my blog to chronicle my wellness journey to inspire and motivate other women.
Accountability Matters
Part of the reason why I didn’t take my blog seriously is I didn’t have an accountability partner. With this challenge, I’ve joined Mattie’s Facebook group and there are not only accountability partners but also support and encouragement partners.
Ain’t Nothing To It But To Do It
Sometimes you just have to just do it. So what if it’s not perfect. In fact, that is my journey. My wellness journey has highs and lows. There are days when I’m able to keep my well-being in balance and other days, I’m hanging on by a thread. However, knowing that I gave it my all is rewarding.
So, thanks to Mattie, I put on my big girl panties, and I have finished the first week. Although we get a break on the weekends, I’m going to use that time to get a jump on next week’s blog posts. I hope you enjoy my renewed interest to get my blog up and running!
