Today, I’ve seen the term Motivation Monday as I browsed the Internet. It’s so popular it has its own hashtag, #MotivationMonday. For many of us Monday is the start of a new workweek, a beginning of sorts. Often Monday is the most dreaded day of the week.
What if we approached Monday with a different attitude? What if we had an attitude of gratefulness? Instead of dreading going to work, be grateful you have a job. Tired of Monday morning traffic? Be grateful you have a car to drive. Are you cranky because the alarm woke you up? Be grateful you woke up this morning.
Putting a positive spin on things is a great way to improve your attitude. Attitudes are not static, they can change. What better day than today to start with a fresh new attitude?
I challenge you to look yourself in the mirror and say three positive things to yourself. Choose anything from complimenting yourself (“I look great today”) to encouraging yourself (“I can make it the whole day without complaining”) to loving yourself (“I love my smile”). Remember your statements throughout the day. Check in with yourself before you go to sleep to assess how you feel. How does this compare to last Monday? Did others notice your positive attitude?
See if you can continue this challenge into the rest of the week. Eventually, your positive attitude will simply be your attitude.
