“You can do this, Vanessa!”

One of the great things about working from home is being able to develop and maintain a consistent exercise routine. Prior to the pandemic, my exercise routine was mostly running my mouth or having impromptu dance parties with the kids. After taking some time to get used to my new work schedule and environment, I have been able to maintain a consistent exercise doing just 3 things.
Walking
While driving through the neighborhood, I usually see multiple people taking a walk. Now, that I have made exercise a priority, I try to walk at least 3 times a week for least 2 miles each time. I prefer to take these walks by myself so that I can get some much needed me time and listen to my music and take in the fresh air.
Weights
Back in high school, I used to have a conditioning class where I would enjoy lifting weights and seeing my progress over time. Now that I’m older (I’m still young at heart), I have included weight training in my exercise routines again. Whether it’s dumbbells, kettlebells, or my bodyweight, I’m definitely enjoying seeing my muscles be redefined.
Fitness Apps
Back in May, one of my friends suggested the FitOn app to a group of us to use so we can workout together. Since downloading the app, I’ve been able to complete cardio, strength, dance, ballet, and yoga workouts. I like how you can set up your own individual goals and choose workouts based off of workout type, time, and intensity. I love the app’s flexibility to allow you choose your own adventure. They even have challenges and badges you can earn. If you are competitive in nature, it’s a good app for you.
I’m certainly glad I have gotten back to exercising on a regular basis. I forgot the satisfaction I feel when I finish a workout. Now, if this leads to me needing to buy a new wardrobe, I wouldn’t be mad at that either!
